DUNS number for your LLC from Morocco: Apple and Google Play

A D-U-N-S number is a nine-digit identifier that Dun & Bradstreet assigns to one company at one address. Major platforms rely on it to confirm that the company they deal with really exists under that name and address.

It is not a tax number: the EIN comes from the IRS, while the D-U-N-S number identifies the company at Dun & Bradstreet.

The Apple Developer Program requires every company that enrolls as an organization to have a D-U-N-S number registered to its legal entity, and an LLC is one of the entities Apple accepts. The company’s name then shows as the app’s seller on the App Store.

Google Play Console requires a D-U-N-S number for every organization developer account, and checks the name and address on the payments profile against Dun & Bradstreet’s record.

A personal account does not need one, but the app is then published under your own name rather than your company’s, and some kinds of app require an organization account.

The company’s legal name exactly as on the formation documents, LLC designator included, then the address and phone number. A mismatch between the Dun & Bradstreet record and the Apple or Google application is the most common cause of delays and refusals.

If the name or address changes later, the Dun & Bradstreet record has to be updated first, because Apple and Google read from it.

The request is made in the company’s name with its US details, and Apple’s and Google’s published requirements do not tie it to where the owner lives.

Each entity has its own number: your Moroccan SARL’s number does not work for your LLC, and the other way round.
